Margaret & Daddy

Margaret & her Daddy...Two Peas in a Pod

Time Is Flying By!

I can't believe Margaret is already 18 months old! It seems really impossible that we already have a one and a half year old - along with all the temper tantrums and other introductions of independence that come with that age....fun stuff for the parents, let me tell you!
She's talking more and more every day - and last night for the first time we said "I love you" and she responded with something that sounded a lot like "I love you." (it could be wishful thinking, and I'm sure she's just repeating, not sure what it means...but a mom can hope)!
Her new words are "watch," "Elmo" (ugh), "fish," and something that sounds like "blanket." - she's more and more her own little person!!
We finally bought Margaret her own big girl bed, but so far (since we haven't received it) we haven't moved her in - we hope to do that in the next week or two.
Also, 7 weeks from right now (God willing) we will have a new addition to our family (talk about time flying by)!!

New Orleans Recovery

Jim spent last week with his family in New Orleans, helping to re-create some semblance of a backyard after Katrina. He took some pretty amazing photos that show the destruction in their backyard. While they were lucky they avoided any flooding, they did unfortunately lose two big trees, which will take 20 years to regrow once they get replanted (if we're lucky)!
Jim made it back to Dallas right before Rita hit, although Rita in Dallas brought blue skies, 100 degree temperatures and light wind...not exactly the rough weather they were talking about all week. For those of you not in New Orleans, these pictures hardly do it justice, but it gives you an idea (photos to come shortly...)

What Does a Lion Say?

Here's our angel - roaring like a lion!

Welcome to the Larkin Family Blog

Hi!
So, I've never posted to a blog, but I decided that since we now have 1 1/2 children, I should make a place that is accessible to everyone to see pictures, hear the latest goings on, and stay generally up to date on things in the lives of the Frisco Larkins.
We are preparing for Baby #2, however it's amazing how slowly one prepares for the second kid. I think Jim and I have been in denial for about, I don't know, 7 months...We (I) are now realizing that I still do have things that need to be bought - I need a new playmat, the cool swing that didn't come out until Meg was too old to use it, diapers, newborn wipes, clothes (although thanks to Lisa and Jenn I need a lot fewer of those), a car seat...the list goes on and on- and that doesn't count the bed/mattress/something I need to get for Meg to sleep on so that we can transfer this new little bundle of joy into something when they are born!
Oh well, these are the life and times of our young family - more to come later, but it's fun to get something posted and we're off to the races!
